CAT NAMED FISH prints on paper
The "Cat Named Fish" painting could have easily been called Fish Named Cat for “Cat” is the fish’s name but it’s called Cat Named Fish to honor the lovely cats in my life, both past, and present.
But it is also about names. The power of a name and its value has long been immortalized in prose, poetry and religious ceremony. Many belief systems, from Native American to Harry Potter, feel that with naming comes power… the power to define, claim, own.
I’m hoping this painting will draw you in and start you thinking about what would it mean to a cat to be named Fish. Would it influence the personality of Fish?
What’s the importance of your own name? Has it influenced who you are? Do you think about the meaning and history of your given name? Why or not?
